Hanan Ayoub-Fadil, M.D., M.P.H.

Hanan Ayoub-Fadil, MD, MPH, is a private holistic clinical researcher and practitioner of Environmental and Occupational Medicine, practicing since 1995. Dr. Ayoub has held national and international consultancies, served as a private investigator for Defeat Autism Now for the National Children's Study, and is leading the development of a U.S.-based autism research study, using Dr. Montessori's methodology and its effect on the lifestyle of autistic children and their families. Dr. Ayoub is the founder of Atlantis Centers Inc., Atlantis Centers Montessori School (ACMS), and Atlantis Healthcare Group in New Jersey.

Dr. Ayoub received her post-graduate (sub-specialty) degree as well as her Master's degree in Public Health, both in Occupational and Environmental Medicine, from the University of Texas School of Medicine and Public Health. She received her medical degree as well as her surgery diploma from Kasr Al Ainy University in Cairo, Egypt. Dr. Ayoub has a Euro-Arabian background and a highly diverse family. Born in Egypt, she began her early education in Europe, and traveled back and forth throughout her school years between Europe and the Middle East.

Dr. Ayoub started her career in the United States in 1995, after her marriage to Dr. Ahmed Fadil. She is continuing her studies with courses in naturopathic and holistic health, and serves as President of the Colts Neck Chapter of the National Association of Professional Women, as well as a member of the Women's Club of Red Bank.

Dr. Ayoub is a leader in her community and is known for her proactive role seeking peace for all children. Her work supports the natural way of recovery for children suffering from autism and other broad spectrum childhood diseases and learning disabilities.

Dr. Ayoub is the author of the Arabic language version of the 1978 ATS-DLD Respiratory Questionnaire, which was published at the American College of Chest Physicians' 2002 Annual Scientific Assembly. She administered the questionnaire, which was commissioned by the University of Texas, on members and spouses of the Arab American Medical Society. Dr. Ayoub also served as a member at large in the Arab American Medical society in Texas and helped organize an emergency preparedness support group after September 11 and the natural disasters of tropical storms Katrina and Rita.

In 2007, after her son was diagnosed with Sensory Processing Dysfunction (SPD) - a condition she had suspected since his birth - and a learning disability at age two. Dr. Ayoub left her position as assistant professor of Environmental and Occupational Medicine at the University of Texas in Houston to pursue finding a cure for SPD. She was motivated to begin this journey after several physicians simply advised her to homeschool her son. Not convinced homeschooling was the solution, she began visiting different schools, therapists, and pioneering scientists experienced in the field, looking for more definite answers to her son's challenges. She felt children were not receiving the necessary aid and tools in order to help them succeed developmentally and eventually started her own school.

After three years of nonstop, dedicated work and research in the areas of neuro- occupational and neuro-environmental diseases, Dr. Ayoub founded ACMS and Atlantis Healthcare Group in Central New Jersey. She believes these two entities form the foundation for a better quality lifestyle, not only for young children with challenges, but for their families as well. By sharing all she has learned to help children with learning disabilities integrate with others, Dr. Ayoub is meeting her goal of helping the children of the world live together in peace and happiness in a natural environment.

Dr. Ayoub, a mother of three, is a pioneer of a holistic approach combined with the Montessori methodology, a rare and complete embodiment of a healthy, "green" lifestyle and hands-on personalized style of learning. Her research work is accredited by the Montessori International Society based in Amsterdam, Holland. With the launch of the accredited Atlantis Centers Montessori School in Tinton Falls, NJ, Dr. Ayoub's dream for a place to bring together children of all different backgrounds came to fruition.

ACMS is not a special needs school, yet it has the tools to support the progress of challenged children, while at the same time providing a healthy lifestyle. In this day and age, our polluted environment is toxic to our bodies' and brains' development, even for neurotypical children. Dr. Ayoub has created a holistic environment in her school that incorporates healthy eating and living with education, leading to significant differences in how children learn, grow, and thrive.
